On Thursday, April 14, the Monroe Master Gardener and Friends are hosting a speaker meeting featuring Bobbie Hershey, Hershey’s Honey, from southeast Iowa. The meeting will be held at the Monroe County Extension Office in Albia, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Hershey’s Honey will be sharing a presentation on honey bees and their food. They will be providing samples of different types of honey, and you will also have an opportunity to sample all of their natural beneficial products.

They manufacture a variety of beneficial health and beauty products from scratch using honey bee's including beeswax, honey, royal jelly, propolis, pollen etc.

This Presentation will explain what their honey bees forage on to produce the honey and the important role bees play in pollination for most of the food we eat.

They Hershey's are stationed on 244 acres of native grasses and flowers including forbes and legumes, originally planted for Pheasants Forever. This is where the bees live and forage.

These speaker meetings hosted by the Monroe County Master Gardener and Friends are free and open to all interested. Donations are accepted and appreciated. There will be light refreshments served.

Gardeners know how important all pollinators are and that we need to pay more attention to what we grow and how we grow it.

The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Monroe County Extension Office. Call (641) 932-5612 with any questions.
